As a followup to the last post about the story Three Questions I want to mention something else I’ve read that has a similar theme. In the book The Way Is Made By Walking there is a chapter called “Focal Ways of Life”. In this chapter the author quotes Albert Borgmann with the following:
I tell them about the four focal affirmations and ask them,
“When were you last able to affirm them?”
There is no place I would rather be.
There is nothing I would rather do.
There is no one I would rather be with
This I will remember well.
There were a couple times this summer that these were particularly true for me, such as at a family reunion and while our church had our annual weekend at Camp Squeah.
The quote is from a book written by Arthur Paul Boers. I mentioned it in an earlier post Books for the Journey.
