Today is Film Photography Day. At the moment I have a film in my camera for a photo project that I anticipate to finish soon. In a different approach below is a fun drawing of my Pentax K1000 and a computer drawing combined with photos on the computer.
Looking for a book to learn to draw? You Can Draw in 30 Days by Mark Kistler is a good one that I worked through. (It includes 30 lessons to go through along with bonus material that expands on each lesson).

February had some cold and snowy weather this year making for some good photo opportunities.
This is a time of year when we celebrate the birth of Jesus. May this be a time of peace and hope for you.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Joy to the earth! the Savior reigns; Let men their songs employ; – “Joy to the World” by Isaac Watts
The photo of the sunflower is one that I took this past summer.
Below are a few of the photos to give a glimpse of this past autumn season when the leaves were changing colour and falling on the ground.
Below is a re-post from my previous Dave’s Journey blog. Note some links have been changed.

Books for the Journey
Some books that I have come across that speak about the journey of life.
Pilgrims Progress by John Bunyan.
This book, which is written in two parts and I just finished reading the first part recently. The book is a classic among Christian literature, through allegory, tells the story of the life of a man as he journeys through a life of faith in God. It speaks to how one needs to remain focused on Jesus avoiding the temptations of life and the encouragement of other Christians. If you are wanting to read this you can find sold in different forms, including ones where the English has been updated.
Travelling Light by Max Lucado
Releasing one’s burdens is what this book is about. It is based on Psalm 23. I haven’t read this one yet, but our Sunday School class is using it to learn and discuss the Psalm.
The Way is Made by Walking by Arthur Paul Boers
I just ordered this book and I am looking forward to reading it. One year I was living in Spain at a place called Burgos. It is one of the cities along a pilgrimage across Spain known as the Camino de Santiago or Way of James. In this book a Mennonite professor tells of his experience as he walked the Camino and the lessons of life he learned. Sidenote: There are many websites on the Camino de Santiago where people tell there stories. One that I like is the one Cycling the Camino de Santiago, which would be my preferred way of doing it.
One more book to add that is coming soon.
James Bryan Smith is an author who last year released a book called “The Magnificent Story: Uncovering a Gospel of Beauty, Goodness, and Truth” He is following that book with one called The Magnificent Journey: Living Deep in the Kingdom in November 2018.
Have you ever gone to the location of a photo you have taken in the past? How have things changed? Below is a photo from 1983 in Vancouver of what was then the new BC Place stadium followed by a recent photo of the Vancouver skyline and stadium with the retractable roof.

Happy Easter! Spring is here, snow has turned to rain and the flowers are blooming.
He is Risen, He is Risen indeed.
With Easter here a song and video that is good to watch is “Is He Worthy?” from Andrew Peterson’s new album.
This years Christmas card I used a collage that was a look back at 2017 through a few of my photos:
- Mt. Cheam from Cheam Lake Wetlands
- Sheep at Fort Langley
- Winter photo at the beginning of the year taken in a park
Happy New Year!
